My brother was given his High School Diploma yesterday –
bound to a vocational course.
Today, I give you two perspectives on this.
The Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
view
Isn’t that the best thing?? He does not need to get frustrated on
working towards his goals in English Literature and Filipino (2 subjects he
finds most difficult even if its almost not functional)! He can focus on
skill-based learning – those that are more applicable to him. His
interests include video-editing, animation, geography, and biking. Were looking
into him being part-time crew in some special-child-friendly fast food joint or
maybe he can be a messenger for some company he’s interested to work for (e.g.
Cartoon Network). Isn’t it exciting to see him march on stage for his
graduation early next year? Plus the best part is seeing him doing something
that he loves and is productive at the same time!
The Mourning Melancholic view
He only had to stay in school for 5 more months to get that
college-bound diploma. But what can I say, Philippine Christian School of
Tomorrow has done their best to accommodate him. I have no qualms about that.
It was Cedie’s behaviour that brought about this painful decision that they had
to make. You see, a few weeks ago, he was asked to do something
academic-related and he refused to. Eventually, he cursed his teacher causing
her to send him home. When my Dad got to his school to pick him up, he could
not be found. I’m not sure but from what I heard, the staff, teachers and
students were looking for him (think search ops). And that obviously led to
disruption of classes and his suspension indefinite break.
I am a believer of our perspective being greatly a choice
and given these 2 options, the way I must view it is almost a given. Its just,
sometimes, what’s there is there. And I must take a little control over my
emotions and thinking to benefit from what’s happened. Now, we have to come up
with what he can do just before he gets sucked in that blackhole of computer
gaming. Again, a vocational course and a part-time job are among the things
that we are looking into. But well, however you want to look at it, I guess a
celebration can’t be hold off for something like this.
It is (Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
or melancholic) a High School Diploma after all.
Thank you PCST! Congrats
Brother!
Wow! Congratulations Ced! Job well done, can't wait to see him working @ Cartoon Network or alike! Animation might also be a good choice, I can still remember those days wherein he showed me his "creation"; he created his own character in one of the video games that he used to play while we were doing our thesis way back in college! KUDOS CED! HAHAHAHA!
